FAQ

Most common Q & A about our gym:

Q: How many people train there at one time and how many trainers are there? Will I be able to get one on one help?

A: With over 700 attendees, new members are usually coached during the first visit, and given guidance as to a daily routine. We have three coaches on staff, which is Jesse Torres, Octavio Modesto and Terrell Jones, and they do their best work with everyone sparring and giving technique guidance daily.  Coach Jesse has other experience boxers that come to the gym who can also give guidance. There are plenty of staff members ready to assist!

Q: What is your history as far as boxing?

A: Jesse is a retired professional boxer with over 30 fights as the number one contender. He has been volunteering his time to the community for over 23 years.

Q: What kind of protective gear do the people at your gym wear?

A: Wraps, Gloves, Mouth Piece and Head gear for those entering the ring. We have gloves and head gear for public use, but you need to purchase your own hand wraps and mouth piece which we sell at the club.

Q: How much money does it cost?

A: We are open Monday through Thursdays from 5:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M, the good news is that it is almost FREE!... You are required to sign a Fox Valley Park District release of liability waver (must be 18+ to sign waver) and $10 fee annually. You must be at least 8 yrs old to enter the gym.

Q: Is it more of a traditional boxing gym or a fitness center?

A: Have you seen a "Rocky Balboa" movie?... that is the feel you get when walking into our gym - it does not get more traditional than that! We have weights, cardio equipment, speed bags, punching bags and a ring. We also have cross fit equipment.  Its definitely the place to box or simply workout!!

Our club also has an "outreach" program. JTLTBC launched an after school program with a mentoring initiative called Aurora City Life(ACL); high-risk youth are matched with mentors in hopes to build character and self-esteem awareness. The program will run with the partnership and collaboration with Aurora Township, and the Aurora School District 131 Extension Campus.

The purpose of the program is to support mentoring relationships between positive adult role models and youth facing challenges in their personal, social and academic lives. ACL is seeking volunteers/mentors with the desire to make a difference in a child’s life – mentors are properly trained, and must be able to pass a back ground check.

Program sponsorship opportunities are also available therefore its open to the entire community - not just boxers. We are seeing an average of 80+ members in a 3-hour period, so it does get pretty busy. Feel free to stop by and pay us a visit, we would love to give you a tour!!
